It's tough for Australia to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

This is the unit that has won seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a side that has won it all.

That it took until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the bowling attack that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It is hard for their batsmen to possess a record if not provided the opportunity.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy receiving a platform to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Initially recognized as the 19-year-old niece of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her country couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 championship-filled years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup arrived three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have resulted from 10 tries across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India momentarily interrupted the run of success.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy commented earlier.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the title decider and was declared player of the series. She made sure her country would not come up short.

If this latest epic knock exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Certain people claim the case for final game tension. Others can counter with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was much more difficult to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this performance followed six innings in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it was a frustrating experience because I feel like I've had no rhythm completely," commented Healy.

"However when you step out on the field, your competitive nature kick in and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's competitiveness has continuously been her major advantage - and an irreplaceable characteristic in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, out to the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and from there Healy was in motion.

"A chance to play and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at a World Cup - and her ton in 84 as she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

Once she was dismissed Australia needed 66 additional runs at one run per ball - an unconquered height now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I'm pleased we have the assurance to do that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, if necessary, we are confident we can do it."

Those words will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this tournament should hear.

During the last week a sense they will triumph from any situation has become more firm - this triumph coming after win against Pakistan by 107 runs despite sitting at 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a last-four spot may well be secure.

During that phase they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the first time at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she later said she regretted not playing despite the injury.

However although she afterwards confessed those injuries have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this championship is anticipated as her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win a global event as leader.

Success in India would take her to the summit of her final mountain.
